Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded or chopped, rotisserie works great
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls 8-count
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup 10.5 oz
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • fresh parsley chopped, optional for garnish

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat and prep: Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Fill crescents: Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Place about 2 tablespoons cooked chicken and small amount of cheddar cheese at wide end of each triangle. Roll up starting at wide end toward point, enclosing filling. Place seam side down in prepared dish.
  3. Make sauce: In medium bowl, whisk together cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Assemble: Pour sauce mixture evenly over crescent rolls in baking dish, spreading into gaps. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes until crescents are golden brown and sauce is bubbling. Cheese should be melted and lightly browned.
  6. Rest and serve: Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Rotisserie shortcut: Use store-bought rotisserie chicken for ultimate convenience
  • Prevent leaking: Seal crescent rolls tightly around filling
  • Smooth sauce: Whisk thoroughly to eliminate lumps
  • Make ahead: Assemble up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake
  • Extra cheesy: Add more cheese on top for indulgent version
  • Freezer friendly: Freeze unbaked casserole up to 2 months, bake from frozen adding 15-20 minutes
